If you’re just getting into the world of quadcopters, the JJRC H36 (also known as the Eachine E010 or Blade Inductrix) is one of the best beginner drones you can buy. Affordable, durable, and incredibly fun to fly indoors, it has quickly become a favourite for both kids and adults alike. Here’s everything you need to know about this little flyer.

The OG Tiny Whoop

The Tiny Whoop phenomenon began as a creative experiment among a group of drone enthusiasts seeking a new kind of flying experience. In 2015, Jesse Perkins and his friends started modifying the Blade Inductrix, a small, ducted quadcopter produced by Horizon Hobby, by adding tiny cameras and video transmitters. This transformed the humble toy into a nimble, first-person-view (FPV) micro drone, capable of zipping through tight indoor spaces and capturing exhilarating footage from the pilot’s perspective. The result was a new category of drone that was safe, accessible, and endlessly fun, sparking an immediate surge of interest within the FPV community.

The name “Tiny Whoop” itself has roots in the playful culture of drone racing. Jesse Perkins was part of “Team Big Whoop,” a Colorado-based group known for racing larger drones and spreading their “Big Whoop” stickers at events. When the team began experimenting with these smaller, camera-equipped quads, the name “Tiny Whoop” was coined as a tongue-in-cheek nod to their origins, quickly evolving into a brand and a movement of its own. What started as a parody sticker soon became synonymous with the entire class of micro FPV drones, thanks to the team’s infectious enthusiasm and the growing popularity of their creations.

Jesse Perkins is widely recognized as the creator and driving force behind the Tiny Whoop project, launching the first official model in 2015 and opening the TinyWhoop.com store a year later to meet soaring demand. While Perkins is often credited as the inventor, he has consistently acknowledged the collaborative spirit that fueled the project, giving credit to friends and fellow innovators who helped bring the concept to life. Today, Tiny Whoop is more than just a drone—it’s a global community and a symbol of creativity, accessibility, and the pure joy of flight.

The JJRC H36 harks back to that base model for building a Tiny Whoop - the original micro FPV drone. This is literally the base platform where Tiny Whoop started.

First Impressions

The JJRC H36 is compact, lightweight, and comes equipped with ducted propellers that enhance safety and stability. Its small size makes it ideal for indoor use—perfect for living room obstacle courses or flying around furniture with ease.

Build Quality and Design

  • Sturdy Construction: The H36's build quality is impressive for its price. It uses slightly harder plastic for its ducted frame, which offers better protection for the propellers.

  • Crash Resistance: It handles crashes well—whether it’s hitting walls, furniture, or even landing in water bowls or coffee cups (yes, really).

  • Design: Though it’s a clone of the Blade Inductrix and Eachine E010, it still has a stylish and sporty appearance. The variety of available colours gives it a personal flair.

Performance and Flight Characteristics

  • Perfect for Indoors: The JJRC H36 shines in indoor environments. Its stable hover and smooth control make it great for learning and proximity flying.

  • Stability: It’s extremely stable, with linear thrust from the ducted props helping it hover and manoeuvre predictably.

  • Low vs High Rates: In low rate mode, it’s calm and gentle—ideal for new pilots. In high rate mode, it becomes more agile, offering a fun challenge as your skills grow.

  • Limitations Outdoors: Outside, the H36 struggles with wind and feels underpowered. It’s best kept inside for optimal performance.

Controller and Usability

  • Simple Controls: The controller is small and toy-grade, but surprisingly tough. It includes shoulder buttons for flips and mode changes.

  • Beginner Friendly: The H36 is safe for kids (with supervision), thanks to its propeller guards and gentle power output.

Features

  • Full 6 Axis Control: While it might be small and cheap this drone has full range of proportional movement control

  • Prop Protection: Fully enclosed propellers mean this is safer than most drones to give to kids or new flyers. It also reduces the chance of propellers getting damaged in crashes.

  • 3D Flips: Press a shoulder button and watch the H36 perform flips in all directions. This is great fun and really easy to do.

  • Headless Mode: Helps beginners fly without worrying about drone orientation—though many find it gimmicky.

Tips and Hacks

  • Flight Time Boost: Trim two blades off each propeller (with nail clippers) for slightly longer flight times. If you are feeling brave, you can remove the canopy too. This reduced weight so you can fly longer - plus you are now a modder!

  • Performance Upgrade: Use high-discharge batteries (like mylipo.de 205mAh 25–50C) and 59000 RPM motors for a significant performance boost.

  • Battery Charging: The stock charger works but it's a bit pants, try using a ViFly Whoopstor for faster and more controlled charging

  • Battery Bay: Clip out the back part of the battery bay to allow for slightly larger capacity batteries and fly for even longer!

  • Spare Parts Availability: Comes with a full set of spare props and USB charger. Replacement parts and upgrades are easy to find online - coming soon to our store!

Final Thoughts

The JJRC H36 is an excellent starting point for anyone looking to get into drone flying. It’s inexpensive, durable, and endlessly fun indoors. While its outdoor capabilities are limited, the H36 more than makes up for it with stability, upgradability, and pure flying enjoyment.
