We are thrilled to invite you and your students to take part in an exciting new chapter of hands-on STEM learning: the Rotor Racers Championships, hosted by BTW Club’s Drone Racing Academy. This is a unique opportunity for your school or youth organisation to lead young innovators into the fast-paced world of drone racing, where technology, teamwork, and creativity take flight!

STEM in
Drone
Racing

Drone racing is more than just a sport—it’s a gateway to the future of hands-on learning by captivating students with the thrill of competition and the excitement of cutting-edge technology. This immersive experience transforms STEM learning from abstract concepts into tangible, real-world challenges. Students become deeply engaged as they build, program, and pilot drones, making STEM subjects both accessible and enjoyable

Real World Applications

  • Physics and Engineering: Students learn about aerodynamics, forces, and energy as they design and fly drones, directly applying classroom theories to real-life scenarios.

  • Technology and Coding: Real world coding challenges building race gates and repairing drones where students build valuable computer science skills.

  • Mathematics: Calculating flight paths, speeds, and battery life helps students see the practical importance of math in technology and engineering.

Develop 21st Century Skills

  • Problem-Solving: Drone racing requires troubleshooting, quick thinking, and adapting to unexpected challenges, fostering resilience and analytical skills.

  • Teamwork and Communication: Students are required to work in teams to build, program, and race drones, enhancing their collaboration and communication abilities—skills essential for STEM careers.

  • Creativity: Designing challenging race tracks and gates, and strategizing for races encourages creative thinking and innovation, blending technical and artistic skills.

Fun & Inclusive

  • Gamification: The competitive, game-like nature of drone racing makes learning fun and motivates students who might not otherwise be interested in STEM.

  • Inclusivity: Drone racing is accessible to students of all backgrounds and abilities, providing opportunities for everyone to participate and excel.

  • Confidence Building: Success in drone racing boosts students’ confidence in their STEM abilities, inspiring them to pursue further studies and careers in these fields

  • Inspirational: Taking part in an accessible and high technology sport that’s part of the World Games inspires the next generation to achieve.

Stage 1:

Build Your
Drone Racing Club

Sign up for the competition and we will provide training and lead your first drone racing club practice session. We will teach your drone racing club leaders on how to use the drones, care for them, run workshops and training sessions and how to engage students with the competition.

We provide a full set of equipment to get you up and racing from day 1 including: Spec racing drones, controllers, batteries, goggles, chargers, and gates.

We also provide activities surrounding drone racing to engage all the STEM faculties. From building racing gates to 3D printing and programming LEDS, all the way to maths problems based on real life to find the speed, distance, power and energy of the drones.

Stage 2:

Find Your Fastest Drone Racing Team

You run regular training sessions with your students to improve flight skills, build race gates, program LEDs, practice team racing strategies. The more you practice, the faster and more effective teams your organisation will cultivate.

When you are ready, we come in and run a team racing event for your students including; Official timing, track design, lighting and decoration and award ceremony for the fastest team.

Stage 3:

Rotor Racers
Championships

Your winning Drone Racing Team is now ready to compete against the other teams from across the country in the Rotor Racers Championships. This is where all the practice, learning and teamwork comes together competing to take that trophy!

We provide a high exposure and prestigious event for the finals with an international standard track and timing system, live streaming to the world with wild decoration, lots of lights and an exciting atmosphere.

The winning team of the competition would secure places to compete amongst 50 of the top pilots from across the world at the annual BIRD event - recognised internationally, this is the largest tiny drone racing event in the UK!
