Everyone can become a member for free and get access to our Members Area. This is where we give back to the FPV Community with information and help passing your CAA DEMARES test, offers and deals, priority notifications of events. You also get to take part in the largest Whoop community in the UK!

Most of us fly 65mm fully ducted whoops like this: https://tinyurl.com/whoop65 But anything up to 85mm and under 249g is allowed, providing it’s fully ducted and flown within your control. Anything over 100g will require proof of insurance cover before you are allowed to fly.

Nope. This hobby is open to all ages and abilities. Some RC or Games Console experience is a benefit but if you can hold a controller and operate the controls, you are welcome to give it a go. Typically kids from age +10 can grasp the controls and understand the safety aspects well enough to join in regular Whoop Nights.

This is a personal decision as there is no law mandating insurance for recreational flying. Some race organisers will insist on insurance. However, accidents do happen which can cost significant amounts. If you break a TV or a light fitting, can you pay for it to be repaired? What about if you hit someone and injure them, can you pay solicitors to defend a compensation claim? We want everyone to feel comfortable and enjoy flying without the fear of something going wrong which is why we offer insurance as part of our Gold Membership plan.

Yes, we have worked hard to find a package that you can use up and down the country at all race events. The cover is actually higher than some other insurance providers! And, if you are volunteering at BTW Events, you are covered under Employers Liability insurance so it’s great for everyone!

Yes, please do! It’s free to watch and we often have people pop their heads in to see what we are up to. We want to spread the wonderful whoop experience with as many people as possible. We can even lend you goggles to get behind the lens and ride along with our members as they fly the course. It’s a truly immersive experience like nothing else!

There are several ways to get started, but in short you can; Come to a whoop night and give it a go. The first visit is free and we have drones you can have a go on Come to a whoop night and rent a drone for the evening. We supply everything you need, offer tuition on learning to fly and manage charging batteries for you. Find a Give It A Go event near you to come and try it out. Join a Rotor Racers event like FPV Crash Course to get a deep dive into the hobby learning everything you need to know Learn independently like lots of whoopers by joining our facebook group, following online youtube videos and reading tutorials from loads of passionate and supportive people.

Certainly can! The BTW Community Supporters allow us to go into charitable youth groups like scouts, cadets, youth clubs and churches to offer free drone flying experiences to kids. If you are a BTW Gold Member you benefit from insurance: £ 12 million Public Liability - Covers your accidental damage to Property or Persons. Indemnity is provided in respect of claims made against any qualifying member for Compensation, including Costs and Expenses incurred (with consent), as a result of a) accidental Bodily Injury to any person other than any Employee; or b) accidental Property Damage; or c) obstruction, loss of amenities, trespass, nuisance or interference with any right of way, light, air or water: caused by an event, neither expected nor intended by the Member, during the period of membership. Full details available in the Summary of Insurance £ 10 million Employer Liability - Covers you when volunteering. Indemnity is provided against all sums which a BTW Club becomes legally liable to pay as Compensation, including Costs and Expenses incurred (with consent), in the event of Bodily Injury sustained by any Employee which arises out of and in the course of their employment by BTW Club, for the purpose of supporting BTW Club in the undertaking of any Insured Activity, which is caused during the period of membership and within the United Kingdom. If, during the membership period, a DCC Member suffers an accidental Bodily Injury whilst engaged in an Insured Activity and such activity is the sole, direct and independent cause of the injury, which occasions disablement and or medical treatment within 12 calendar months of the accident, then we shall pay the benefits as stated in the Summary of Insurance Free Personal Accident and Injury Solicitors Service Access to a network of legal experts offering 'No Win, No Fee' and discounted services to qualifying members to pursue your compensation claims.
