Blackpool Illuminations team have seen the incredible rise of Whoop Racing and provided us space for a racing event on 18th and 19th October 2025.
This is going to be something really special in front of a huge crowd, delivering an amazing lit up experience to the Capital of Light - Blackpool

I recently visited the factory where they make all the illuminations models and got to see how it’s done! They have a giant 3D printing machine capable of 2m x 3m x 5m prints, a cursed “snow maker” milling machine for automating cutting models from polystyrene and a wonderful fabrication shop full of tools, steel and welded parts. It was incredible to see what goes into making the world famous Blackpool Illuminations.
The race will feature some incredible models!
We are working hard with the Lightpool team to create something special for the spectators and the pilots. They are making some great features for this event. One of the must-have pieces is the miniature (but still 4m tall) Blackpool tower. Whoops are going to be whipping round and diving this iconic building in beautifully colourful micro scale.
But That’s Not All!
The BMFA are working with us to host Give It A Go activities for the spectators
Line of Sight drones to get as many people up and flying as possible
FPV Ride Along goggles to sit behind the eyes of the fastest racers in the UK
BMFA are bringing their fantastic simulators so everyone can try FPV flying
You Can Get Involved too!
We are looking for volunteers who want to help host Give It A Go activities!
FPV Hotlaps where people can don FPV goggles to ride along onboard as the pro pilots race around the Luminair Lightpool Circuit
LOS Challenge where people can pick up little line of sight drones and pilot them around a small LED hoop track.
