I arrived a little early this week too avoid traffic and guess who i find loitering in the carpark?! ScoobyAir! He arrived early too having come direct from work and so gave me a hand bringing everything in and setting up. 💪
While I was organising next year's dates (stay tuned for an announcement) I left Scooby alone with the gates and come back to half a track already set up! Great! More people should get the chance to design tracks because this was a great one! 🔥
A long and REALLY fast slalom down the back followed by some tight technical turns with a few elevation changes. It was really nice - eh Blueprint 😉
Anyway, being early and having had help setting up we were done in record time allowing me to prat about with the camera and get a load of packs in belt anyone turned up. Bliss 🤩
Seven so close to Christmas we still had a full house, enough to do something I've been wanting to do for some time - Team Endurance Racing 🏁
This is where you work in teams of 3 to fly 50 laps as quickly as possible. Everyone takes turns as the pilot, the plugger-in-er and the next up to fly as quickly, but also efficiently as possible.
With 10 of us total, we had 3 teams and i took the position of commentator and lap tally. I wasn't very good keeping an eye on 3 teams of pilots but they all called out their laps. I forget who won, but it didn't really matter, it was great fun, absolutely pandemonium, with loads of flying!
Just what everyone wants at a Whoop Night!
Welcome to our FPV Drone Racing club
Birmingham Tiny Whoopers
❓ But whats a whoop ❓
Its a tiny racing drone, that can sit in the palm of your hand and weighs as much as a pack of tictacs. It has a camera onboard that sends live video back to VR goggles the pilot wears and flies it using an RC controller.
👥 Join the micro FPV fraternity!
Everyone welcome, from complete beginners to seasoned drone racing enthusiasts.
We have a beginners kit that anyone who turns up can have a go with!
Or bring your whoop along and send it around our unique glowing tracks. Anything fully ducted and 85mm or less is welcome.
