This is what we do at our regular Whoop Nights!

We meet up regularly for our Whoop Nights in a pub function room in Birmingham.

This is open to anyone who wants to come along, hang out with like minded FPV enthusiasts and fly in a safe, comfortable environment.

The pub serves great food and drinks at good prices, so many people have dinner here before getting flying

Track

Every meet we set up a bespoke track with new features and layouts. This keeps the flying fresh and offers new challenges every time.

Racing

After a couple hours letting everyone learn the track, and getting warmed up, we usually have a few "proper" races. Sometimes we will have the timer, and other times it will just be first to 3 laps wins. With the generosity of our lovely sponsors, we usually have some prizes to give out too!

Freestyle

You don't have to use the track! If you prefer freestyle, you can use the hoops to practice tricks, get into the flow and enjoy just cruising around.

For me, chasing whoops is definitely the most fun. Swooping thru the gates and keeping as close as possible is a real challenge. James has some great LEDs making him easier to see / target, but its still tricky to keep it controlled and close

Channel Sharing

We run 4 video channels at a time, meaning 4 people can be flying. You'll have a marker on your table to tell you which channel to be on, and then you take it in turns with the people on your table. When you are finished flying a battery, offer the air to the next person so we all get a good number of flights. With a maximum of 16 people at any meet, you'll only ever be waiting 6-10 minutes between flights

Safety

We only fly indoors, and in an area separated from the general public. Entering the function room for a whoop night you take responsibility for your own safety. We expect anyone attending to demonstrate competent flying or be willing to take part in some short tuition to help them become a safe flyer. This is very easy and with some help, everyone can learn to fly within a few goes. We have some house rules but honestly its all pretty much common sense.

  • Insurance needed for regular attendance

  • No deliberately crashing into people

  • Keep batteries in good condition

  • Maximum 249g take off weight

  • All drones must be fully ducted

  • You must fly within control at all times

Who Can Attend?

Anyone! If you have a passion to fly micro FPV we would love to hang out. This is a very friendly group of people who all enjoy helping new people get involved, learn the basics and experience FPV flying.

Its also a very inclusive activity. Race, Gender, Religion, Education, Age are all irrelevant when flying FPV as it has no bearing on your enjoyment in this hobby. Kids as young as 4 years old can pick up a basic drone and get the thrill of flight with a little parental help. Even people with physical disabilities are able to take part in this sport because you only need to be able to operate a controller and modifications can be made to help with this.

What Kit Should I Bring?

Even if you have never flown before, we have whoops you can try out a couple times completely free. Then if you'd like the spend the evening flying with us, you can either bring your own kit, if you have it, or rent a whoop for the night.
