It was a windswept weekend at the 2025 British FPV Drone Racing Championships, but while dive gates flapped and video feeds faltered, one pilot kept his cool. Jack Prosser, better known as Gilbert FPV, the Cambridge-based racer who cut his teeth on VelociDrone lobbies and DCL Draft picks, rose above the chaos this year to secure his first national title.

Known within the community for his smooth transition from sim-only racing during lockdown to the sharp end of real-life competition, Gilbert FPV has become a standout figure in the UK scene. His journey reflects not only the growing crossover between digital and physical flying, but also the sheer passion that drives FPV racing forward.
Now crowned British Champion, Gilbert FPV balances the thrill of international invites with the demands of his final year at university—proof that for this young pilot, the story is only just taking off.

For many in the FPV community, Gilbert FPV’s rise feels both familiar and remarkable. He first picked up drones around 2015–2016, experimenting with toy quads and early FPV setups before moving into self-built rigs. Like countless pilots of his generation, his real breakthrough came through sim racing—spending lockdown nights grinding VelociDrone lobbies, jumping into online tournaments, and eventually competing in the DCL Draft alongside names like Halo Walker and Star23467.

By 2021, Gilbert FPV made the leap from virtual heats to real-life racing, joining X-Blades Racing under the guidance of Paul Jaggers. The adjustment wasn’t easy—crashes, nerves, and the cold reality of flying outdoors meant his early results were mixed—but his sim-trained consistency gave him an edge. By 2022 he was already competing at the British Championships, finishing 19th in his debut season and quickly cementing himself as one of the UK’s fastest developing talents.
Fast forward just three years, and Gilbert FPV has converted that simulator grind and steady progress into the ultimate payoff: the 2025 British FPV title.
